The suspicious powder that led to the evacuation of the Clayton County police headquarters building for three hours Tuesday morning had been turned over to the FBI for further investigation. The powder was found about 8:30 a.m. in an envelope in an isolated part of the building.
The Clayton County Police, Fire & Emergency Services and Sheriffs’ Office were dispatched to establish an outside perimeter to isolate the area.
All Emergency 911 calls for service were rerouted through the Forest Park and Riverdale Police Departments and communicated to Clayton County
Police for response. This collaboration caused no interruptions in the emergency call taking system, according to police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams.
