Emory University student Lucas Buyon has been using his time off to get ahead on schoolwork, study for the grad school entrance exam and apply to internships.

He and his friends have been messaging each other over Face book and texting to meet up to study at the Dobbs University Center.

“I’m trying to stay inside as much as possible,” said Buyon, 21, who lives in an Emory fraternity house.

“Luckily my fraternity house is close to the [university center], which is the only building open on campus that’s not a dorm,” he said. “When I do need to go between the two, I move as quickly as possible.”

Buyon planned ahead. He went to Kroger on Monday afternoon to stock up on food to see him through the snow and ice storm.
