Two Sinclair Community College students in Dayton, Ohio will enter the school’s record books when they cross the graduation stage tonight.

Vinnie Dean Walker, 89, and Caleb Garman, 14, will graduate tonight as Sinclair’s oldest and youngest graduates in the school’s 129-year history.

“Ms. Walker began her college education in 1963 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and life happened,” said Sinclair President Steve Johnson during his recent State of the College address.

“She had to put off her education until she came back to Sinclair about six or seven years ago,” he said.

And for the Garman family, today isn’t just Caleb’s graduation. His mother, Amanda, will also graduate from Sinclair today.

More than 900 students will participate in tonight’s graduation ceremony at the University of Dayton Arena.
