He didn’t win the Powerball jackpot, but a Dalton man recently scratched his way to a $1 million win in the Georgia Lottery.

Charles Shaw, 52, a door frame inspector for a local car manufacturer, won a $1 million prize playing the instant game 50X The Money.

He bought the ticket at Kankus Express #0101, 2958 Cleveland Highway in Dalton.

“I went in and got a Coke and a ticket,” Shaw said. “I scratched it in the truck.”

Shaw, who has no immediate plans for the money, said that his win seems unbelievable.

“I’m pretty calm. I don’t think it has sunk in yet,” he said.

Meanwhile, a Riverdale man matched five numbers but not the Powerball to win $1 million in the Powerball drawing for $579 million Wednesday night.

David Jackson, a father of five who bought his $1 million ticket at the Georgia Food Mart #1 on Ga. 138 in Riverdale, claimed his prize at Georgia Lottery headquarters Thursday morning.
