The wreck that shut down I-75 North at Hudson Bridge Road on Thursday morning appears to involve a motorcycle. A body could be seen lying on the interstate.

An investigation into a deadly motorcycle wreck shut down I-75 North for hours Thursday morning in Henry County.

The collision, which occurred about 4:50 a.m. in the area of Hudson Bridge Road, also involved a tractor-trailer and resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider, according to Henry County police. The name of the rider was not released.

The investigation turned the interstate into a parking lot between McDonough and Stockbridge for much of the morning drive. The northbound lanes were shut down about 5 a.m. and did not reopen until 8:40 a.m., nearly four hours later.

During the shutdown, northbound traffic was being diverted off at Jodeco Road, but there were still miles of cars stuck in the backups for hours. Motorists got out of their vehicles to take in the scene from the side of the road.
