A former Forsyth County sheriff's captain has been indicted on sexual-related charges in connection with an incident involving a 16-year-old girl, authorities said.

Frank Huggins, 73, of Cumming, faces charges of sexual assault of a student and sexual battery, according to an indictment handed down Friday.

Cumming was working as a driving instructor at Lanier Technical College when he was accused of the incidents involving his student, a Forsyth sheriff’s spokesman previously said. The alleged incidents were in October, according to the indictment.

Huggins served as a captain from 2001 to 2010 and was also a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, authorities said.

“First of all, it is absolutely not true and I intend to prove that when my day in court comes,” Higgins said previously in a Facebook post. “Second, I ask for your support and prayers in the days ahead.”
