A man is in custody in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in a Home Depot parking lot, according to an announcement.
Police arrested Murray Blackmon, 65, Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said in a statement Saturday.
Before the arrest was announced, police released more details on Facebook of the incident that killed a 44-year-old man.
The incident happened after the victim, whose name has not been released, met the suspect inside the store on Mt. Zion Road in Morrow, according to the post. They met about selling a computer.
After the men went to the car, some sort of exchange happened, and surveillance video showed Blackmon’s car pulling out of a parking spot very fast with the victim holding onto the top passenger side, the post read.
The vehicle was westbound in the parking lot when the driver intentionally slammed on the brakes, which threw the victim from the car.
“The victim was thrown to the ground where he suffered a fatal strike as his head collided with the asphalt,” the post read.
“As the victim laid critically injured and bleeding in the parking lot, the suspect is seen on camera as he maneuvered his vehicle close to where the victim was laying so that he could retrieve the computer box which had fallen from the vehicle with the victim.”
