Two teens are in custody and two other people are on the run after taking a Lyft driver’s car at gunpoint, police said.

According to Atlanta police, a 15-year-old, a 17-year-old and two other people rushed the driver around 1:30 a.m. as he was dropping off a female passenger at an apartment building in the 800 block of Glenwood Avenue.

He was standing outside his 2013 Toyota Corolla, watching to ensure the woman got into the apartment safely.

Police said the men took the driver’s personal belongings.

“One suspect, described as wearing a blue jean outfit, pointed a gun at the victim and demanded the car and his belongings,” police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said. “The suspects physically removed the victim’s wallet and keys.”

They drove off in the vehicle and sped west down Glenwood Avenue, police said. Less than 30 minutes later, Atlanta officers caught up with them.

A zone 6 officer spotted the car heading south on Moreland Avenue and followed it into the Forest Cove apartments off Thomasville Boulevard, where “the driver and passengers bailed out,” Capt. Andrew Senzer said.

Two of the suspected robbers were apprehended and arrested, including the alleged gunman. Police have not released the names of the teens or the others on the run.

The car was recovered and later returned to the Lyft driver.
