A man is in critical condition after he was carjacked and shot Thursday morning while driving through his DeKalb County neighborhood, police said.

According to DeKalb police, the shooter stole the man’s car and crashed it near the community clubhouse in the Rainbow Creek neighborhood off Wesley Chapel Road.

Officers responding to the shooting on Raindrop Court about 4 a.m. Thursday found the man with “apparent gunshot wounds to the torso,” police spokeswoman Officer S. J. Salzer told AJC.com.

“The victim advised he was driving in his neighborhood when he was robbed,” Salzer said.

Officers found his wrecked silver Nissan Altima against a fence at the tennis courts. It was abandoned.
