Authorities are seeking an inmate who escaped a Georgia Department of Corrections facility in northeast Atlanta early Saturday.

Dennis Zachery Carlyle escaped from the Atlanta Transitional Center in the 300 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue, the agency said in a social media post.

Carlyle last was seen wearing civilian clothes, the DOC said. People are urged not to approach him and to call 911 if he is seen.

He was serving a seven-year sentence for robbery, according to the DOC website. His term was scheduled to end in June 2019.

The center Carlyle escaped from is a facility to prepare adult male felons who are nearing the ends of their jail terms to take on responsible citizenship, according to the website.
