Jonesboro police arrested five people who allegedly dragged a woman from her motel room into a car Sunday.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was forcibly removed from the Motel 6 on Southside Commercial Parkway near Jonesboro at about 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

Police declined to identify the woman as they investigate whether she was sexually assaulted.

Arrested were Kyneisha Norman, 32; Teona Willis, 34; Davel Locker, 17; Shataya Durham, 17 and Jasmine McCloud, 18, all of Jonesboro. Charges are pending.

A witness reported the incident and make of the vehicle to police, who broadcast it to law enforcement agencies throughout Clayton County. Jonesboro Police Officer Cornell Madison said he was on traffic duty when he spotted the 2005 black Acura on Tara Boulevard and stopped it.

“The car was rocking after it stopped, as though they were fighting inside,” he said.

He called for backup and ordered the occupants out of the car.

Madison said the victim was a prostitute. But the story behind the incident remains unclear. The suspects, four women and one man, said they were trying to save the woman from the sex trade, but the victim disagreed. The victim had bite marks and bruises indicative of an altercation, he said.

“There are so many stories going around right now between the victim and the suspects,” Madison said.

Police also found a gun in the car.
