The city is expected to announce new developments today in negotiations with the Atlanta Falcons regarding a new stadium.
Three individuals with knowledge of the situation said an announcement could come this afternoon from City Hall. It is unclear what the announcement will entail.
In a series of recent meetings about the stadium, City Council members have expressed concerns regarding infrastructure costs, traffic, participation by women-and minority-owned vendors and other neighborhood issues.
The city and the Falcons have been in negotiations regarding a $1 billion retractable-roof stadium, which will include $200 million in public financing toward construction.
Reed told the City Council earlier this month that a stadium deal could come before the body by the end of March.
Under the current version of the deal, the city would issue bonds backed by revenue from city sales taxes on hotel and motel rooms to partly fund construction.
Falcons executives have said they want to be in a new stadium by the 2017 season, when their lease at the Georgia Dome could end.
