Detectives have identified a suspect connected to three bank robberies in the metro Atlanta area, including two in which he may have been armed with a grenade, the Gwinnett County police said Wednesday.

Jeremy Thompson, 28, remains at large, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Thompson, described as a black male who is 6-foot-6 and 180 pounds, should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone encountering him should call 911, police said.

Authorities have linked him to bank robberies in Gwinnett, Doraville and Buckhead.

Gwinnett police are investigating the robbery of the Wells Fargo on Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Buford Highway near Norcross on Tuesday.

A man entered the bank around 9:15 a.m., waited in line, then presented a note to a teller demanding money, police said.

“He then produced an object that appeared to be a hand grenade,” Smith said.

Police said they don’t know whether the grenade was real or a fake, Channel 2 Action News reported.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man fled the scene on foot.

No injuries were reported.

The FBI and Gwinnett police believe the same suspect also robbed a Wells Fargo branch in Doraville on Aug. 27 and one in Buckhead on Thursday. A grenade-like device was used during the Buckhead robbery, but not the Doraville one, police said.

Wells Fargo is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information should contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-8477.
