Shortly after the suspects had a conversation with the victim, one of them pulled out a gun and shot the man.

Two men walked into a northwest Atlanta convenience store and had a brief conversation with a person inside. Then, for reasons that aren’t clear, one of them pulled out a gun and shot the man in the stomach, according to police.

Atlanta investigators are working to identify the two suspects in the incident, which happened late Saturday at an Exxon on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. Video surveillance released by the police department Wednesday shows the two men inside the store moments before the shooting.

Officers were sent to the area shortly after 11 p.m. on a report of a person being shot, according to an Atlanta police report. When police arrived, the victim was “lying on the ground rolling around in pain,” the report said.

An officer determined the victim had a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. He was alert when he was taken to a hospital, police said.

Witnesses told police the shooting happened shortly after the victim and suspects had a conversation. A store clerk who witnessed the incident said the exchange was not an argument, according to the report.

A witness told police he heard a gunshot ring out and then saw the victim falling backward. He then saw the suspects hop into a white car and drive away, the incident report said.

Police did not say if the victim and suspects knew each other.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Atlanta police.
