Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting of a man in southeast Atlanta on the eve of Thanksgiving, authorities announced.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Nov. 25, officers found 20-year-old Jerry Carr with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso outside a Moreland Avenue grocery store, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Carr, a 2019 graduate of South Atlanta High School, was called an “amazing spirit” who encouraged everyone around him in comments from a GoFundMe page. He was set to become a real estate agent and was preparing to take the state exam in 2021.

Five days after Carr’s death, investigators determined that Jacob Ingram and Jamon Johnson were responsible for the shooting, and warrants were secured for their arrest, Atlanta police said in a Facebook post.
