Class AAAAAA No. 1 Northview put on a strong performance this past weekend at the Wesleyan Invitational in Norcross posting the top three individual runners and four of the top five to keep their ranking. Titans’ runner Lindsey Billings won her second consecutive race in dominating fashion finishing 1:24 ahead of teammate Tiffany Yue. Four new faces find their way onto this week’s list. No. 4 Pope improved on their previous week’s time by almost one minute posting a 19:55 at the Bob Blastow Early Bird. Lambert won the Saucony XC Kickoff Classic in Savannah with a time of 20:20 to land them at No. 8. No. 9 Etowah placed second at the Saucony Battle of Atlanta in Hampton (20.31) and No. 10 Johns Creek won the 13th Annual Fall Runaway in Jefferson with a time of 21:00 led by individual meet champion Allison Rothrock (20:04).
Despite having a slower average time, Dunwoody beat out Northview on points to claim the Wesleyan Invitational and keep their No. 1 ranking in Class AAAAA. Richmond Hill makes the jump from No. 9 to No. 5 this week after a third place finish at the Saucony XC Kickoff Classic with an average time of 21:17. The lone addition to this week’s rankings is No. 9 Winder-Barrow. The Bulldogs are fresh off of a fifth place finish at the Saucony XC Kickoff Classic posting a 21:57 average time.
Four of the top five teams in Class AAAA competed this past weekend at the Saucony Battle of Atlanta. No. 1 Marist ran away from the field posting the top average time of 20:10. St. Pius X holds their No. 2 ranking after a sixth place finish (second among 4A schools) at the event with a time of 21:21. Previously unranked Perry finds its way to No. 10 after running a 22:28 at the Bob Blastow Early Bird.
There are no new schools in the Class AAA rankings, and the top four all stayed the same. Jefferson finds its way from No. 10 up two spots to No. 8, while Coahulla Creek, Morgan County, and East Jackson each move up one spot.
Like AAA, Class AA sees no new schools crack the rankings, although there is still some shakeup. While Lovett and Darlington remain at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, St. Vincent’s Academy makes the move from No. 6 to No. 3 after posting a 22:13 at the Saucony XC Kickoff Classic. Bremen was the only other team to rise in the rankings jumping from No. 8 to No. 6 after compiling an average time of 23:16 at the Bob Blastow Early Bird.
The bottom-half of the Class A-Private rankings shift around as Savannah Christian moves up to No. 6. The team finished with a solid 23:01 average time at the Saucony XC Kickoff Classic. Walker moves up one spot to No. 7 after running a 23:34 at the Bob Blastow Early Bird, and Athens Christian moves up one spot to No. 8 after posting a time of 23:40 at the 13th Annual Fall Runaway.
Johnson County and Baconton Charter both move up one spot to No. 8 and No. 9 respectively in the Class A-Public ranking. Many teams in the classifications will start their competition season this weekend.
