If the Braves’ World Series championship still feels like a dream, the cold wind blowing Wednesday morning will certainly jolt you awake.
Temperatures are in the mid-40s in Atlanta on a cold morning after a glorious night for baseball fans. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said a breeze will blow in from the northeast all day, keeping the city cool and mainly dry.
“On this championship Wednesday, we’ve got chilly breezes, we’ve got clouds around and we’re going to stay in the 50s for highs,” he said. The projected high for Atlanta is 58 degrees.
A 20% chance of rain is in the forecast, but Monahan said showers will mostly stick to northwest Georgia. The entire region will see clouds increase ahead of a rainy day Thursday, when showers are 40% likely, according to Channel 2.
With the rain around, Thursday is expected to be even cooler with a projected high of only 51 degrees.
“For today, even though we have more clouds we should stay mainly dry,” Monahan said. “You got plans to get outside, you should be OK for your Wednesday. Thursday’s an inside day. Maybe a day to rest up for a busy Friday... a great day for a parade.”
Details for the Braves’ victory parade Friday have not been announced, but Monahan said weather will not be an issue for those hoping to join in the fun. He expects temperatures in the mid-50s on Friday afternoon with more sunshine.
“We’re going to see the sky clear out, and we should be looking pretty good by Friday for that Braves World Series Championship parade to end the week,” he said.

Temperatures will stay in the 40s and 50s all week before making a return to the 60s for the weekend, according to the latest forecast. Monahan said North Georgia is looking at “a really nice weekend” with sunshine and a projected high of 62 degrees by Sunday.

There are no major delays on metro Atlanta interstates at the start of the Wednesday morning drive, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. After a late night of baseball Tuesday, there could be fewer drivers getting an early start.
