North Georgia has just a few more days to enjoy this nice weather before rain returns to the forecast at the end of the week.
The thought of rain isn’t so bad, considering the ground has been so dry, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. Still, the bright sunshine, low humidity and highs in the 80s have produced some beautiful afternoons to enjoy time outside this week.
More of the same is in Wednesday’s forecast, Monahan said.
“We’ve got 50s to start the day and with bright sunshine today — just a few extra clouds in the forecast for us this afternoon — we’re going to be up in the low to a few mid-80s,” he said. “It’s going to feel great though with the humidity on the low side.”
Atlanta’s projected high is 83 degrees, which should make Wednesday the warmest day of the work week. Monahan said North Georgia gets about 13.5 hours of daylight this time of year, and 13 of them should be sunny Wednesday.
Less sunshine is in Thursday’s forecast, but Monahan expects it will stay dry. By Friday, clouds and humidity will build ahead of isolated rain chances this weekend, he said.
Showers are 20% to 30% likely each day, with an added chance of thunderstorms on Sunday.
“A few showers by the weekend,” Monahan said. “No washouts in the forecast, and you are going to have plenty of time for outdoor plans.”
Sunday will also come with some warmer weather, according to the latest forecast. The projected high is 87 degrees, which is six degrees above average for this time of year.
