As the Fourth of July weekend begins, chances of rain appear to be leveling off. However, the chance is still there.

A cold front moving into metro Atlanta means that storms could show up Saturday evening, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“It’s going to trigger some showers and storms, and some of those storms could be pretty strong,” meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Be prepared for gusty winds and lighting, Monahan said.

Also, all the recent rain has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Watch for extreme northwest Georgia from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Chance of rain is at 40 percent Saturday and Sunday, and that figure holds through the Fourth of July, according to Channel 2.

Saturday’s high is forecast at 88, with the expected high at 89 for Sunday.

Shortly after 4 p.m., temps were at 85 in Atlanta, 88 in Griffin and 86 in Blairsville.
