The overcast sky looming over metro Atlanta means two things: it’s cooling the city off quickly, and it’s raining.
The rain isn't too heavy, but it is slowing drivers near Decatur and downtown Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News. Wrecks are also slowing Monday's evening commute, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center, but traffic in Cobb County is actually an improvement from earlier today.
I-75 South was stifled for hours after a pickup truck flew off a bridge and onto the interstate median, killing its driver and blocking several lanes, AJC.com reported. All lanes have reopened.

On the Southside, traffic is recovering after a crash blocked center lanes of I-75 North at Ga. 138, the Traffic Center reported. The crash has been moved to the right shoulder, but delays linger back to I-675.
In Fulton County, all lanes of Ga. 166 West have reopened near Greenbriar Parkway after a wreck, but delays linger from the Perimeter, the Traffic Center reported.
Scattered showers in metro Atlanta are expected to intensify as the evening commute progresses, according to Channel 2. While there is a relatively low 40% chance of showers and storms Monday, what does develop could be heavy.
“There are going to be some downpours,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “There’s also going to be another day of really comfortable temperatures.”
Temps are forecast to stay on the cooler side into the early evening, according to Channel 2. Atlanta should be at 87 degrees this time of year, but the projected high Monday was 81.
The city briefly hit the low 80s before plummeting to the low 70s when the overcast skies and spotty rain developed, according to Channel 2.
It may feel autumnal outside, but North Georgia is not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet. The cooler weather won’t last long, Monahan said.
“This week (temperatures) are going back up after today, and we'll start to warm things back up as we climb back close, but not exactly, to 90 degrees,” he said. “I think we'll stay below 90 all week long.”
Tuesday carries a 40% chance of rain, and showers and storms are 30% likely Wednesday. Drier, warmer weather should be in place by the end of the week.
“We'll have scattered showers off and on through tonight and through tomorrow evening," Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
By the weekend, the Southeast could be feeling the effects of Dorian. The system has strengthened to a 60-mph tropical storm.
After a five-week stretch without a named system, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said there have been three in the past week. However, the sixth tropical depression of the year has formed north of the Bahamas and is expected to stay off the East Coast.
"(Tropical Depression 6) has been moving to the Northeast, and it has finally got enough organization to become a depression,” Nitz said. “Strengthening is possible, but it's moving away from the U.S."
