Metro Atlanta traffic definitely isn’t speedy during this evening commute, but it’s pretty light in comparison to most Fridays and this morning’s messy, wet commute.

There are still plenty of hangups, including a wreck involving a school bus on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, which only has one right lane open near Britt Road, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

A crash on I-285 South near Camp Creek Parkway in Fulton County has a right lane blocked, according to the Traffic Center. On the Perimeter in DeKalb County, a left southbound lane is also blocked by a crash near Memorial Drive.

Traffic is much lighter in DeKalb than earlier today, when multiple crashes clogged two major interstates for the bulk of the morning commute.

Metro Atlanta saw its highest temperatures Friday while many were still sleeping.

It hit 63 degrees at 4 a.m., and Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said it won’t get any warmer Friday. She said Atlanta temps will hold steady before dropping through the 50s.

“Temperatures will continue to hang out in the mid-50s through the day,” Minton said.

A few pockets of rain remained across North Georgia through the early afternoon as a cold front pushed toward the south. However, most of the showers have now moved out of North Georgia, Channel 2 reported.

It should be dry and chilly heading into the weekend. Morning lows on Saturday are expected to take a 20-degree nosedive and start in the 40s, according to the latest forecast from Channel 2.

“The front slides out, heads down to the south (and) cooler, drier air settles in,” Minton said. “We're in store for some chilly temperatures coming into Saturday and Sunday morning.”

Rain will return to the forecast Monday afternoon, and Tuesday is looking “like a very wet day,” Minton said.
