The word 'staycation' was added to the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary in 2009. It's a cute term of saying "we-can't-afford-a-flashy-vacation-and-will-see-hometown-sights."  But don't we all need a getaway once in awhile?   Today, where we go is mostly based on affordability.

Although we don't often get to choose our holiday destinations. Friends and family tend to choose those for us with invitations to graduations, weddings and reunions.

However, if you do have a say about your vacay spot, check out these two lists showing the best values and the most over-priced airfares across North America from hometown Atlanta.

You'll find some nice surprise destinations priced under $400 -- and be shocked at the list of priciest cities.
