Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa, recognized for its cool mountain temperatures, acres of horseback riding, hiking trails, and championship golf, has added a new family fun activity – Geocaching.
Organized by the Resort's staff and designed to be appropriate for children and adults, the Resort uses old ammunition boxes and quart jars to hide trivia clues throughout the grounds. Using a Global Position System (GPS) receiver or mobile device guests can make their way through the property to find the caches and their clues.
Guests who complete the Geocaching adventure and correctly answer the trivia questions qualify to win a prize.
The event is organized through the Resort's Sweet Treat Emporium, and GPS systems can be rented for $30 for the first day and $15 each additional day.
Book a "Family Retreat" vacation for a Sunday through Thursday and up to a family of four (two adults and two kids) can enjoy a traditional guest room with two double beds from $149 per night (taxes, gratuities and a $10 per room resort fee additional).
In addition, when an adult purchases a recreational resort activity such as golf or horseback riding an accompanying child, up to 12 years old, will be able to participate in the same activity at the same time for half price.
Additional family activities include guided hikes on the resort's hiking trails, hikes to area waterfalls, fun craft activities and dive-in movies in the indoor-outdoor swimming pool.
Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is only two hours north of Atlanta on US Highway 76. It is deep in the Appalachian Mountains near the foot of the state's highest peak, Brasstown Bald. The resort includes 102 lodge-style guestrooms in the main lodge and 32 guestrooms in eight lodge cabins, as well as the Equani Spa which is inspired by Native American techniques and botanicals, the 18-hole championship golf course, a heated indoor-outdoor pool, and tennis courts.
