Here's a late summer vacation suggestion that could turn out to be one of the family's favorite outings ever!
It's a summer adventure in the Rocky Mountains amid the resorts of Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek.
This "Epic Summer" vacation comes in four- and seven-day itineraries. Both are locally guided and all-inclusive - from condo or lodge room accommodations in Keystone or Breckenridge resorts, all activities, transportation to and from all activities, ground transfers to/from Denver International Airport and all meals.
The activities have been chosen by experienced local guides who adore their mountain setting. They are experts in the history, culture and ecology of the areas to be visited. These experts will lead the entire trip from day one until it's time to say farewell.
Families will experience all of the following included activities on the one-week itinerary:
- Standing atop the Continental Divide in a trip to world-renowned Rocky Mountain National Park.
- Thrilling whitewater rafting down a scenic Colorado river.
- Horseback riding through aspens, pines, and wildflowers on Beaver Creek Mountain.
- A gondola ride to the summits of Vail and Keystone mountains
- Family-friendly naturalist hikes and mountaintop picnics on Vail and Keystone mountains.
- A historical walking tour through the Victorian mining town of Breckenridge (celebrating its 150th anniversary year).
- An authentic gold mine tour and hands-on gold panning.
- A Wild West cowboy campfire dinner, complete with wagon rides and storytelling.
There's enough time in between the adventures to stroll and explore the unique shops and boutiques in the towns of Estes Park, Vail and Breckenridge, or to get more active with optional activities such as outdoor ice skating, orienteering and bicycling.
All meals are included and planned to reflect the character and flavor of the Rocky Mountain West. Three of the lunches are mountaintop picnics to enjoy sweeping views of the Rockies and another is enjoyed on the banks of a river during the rafting excursion.
Dinners take place in iconic Colorado restaurants, and there is an outdoor cowboy campfire dinner.
The six-night, seven-day package is priced at $1,195 for adults and $895 for ages 12 and under. It begins on Sunday evening with a welcome reception and dinner in Keystone Resort, and ends after breakfast on Saturday.
The four-day package features whitewater rafting, a gondola ride to an easy guided hike and mountaintop picnic, horseback riding and time for shopping in Vail and Breckenridge.
The three-night, four-day package is $695 for adults and $545 for ages 12 and under. It begins on Thursday evening with a welcome reception and dinner in Keystone Resort, and ends after breakfast on Sunday.
Both packages are recommended for children ages 6 and older. Also, the above rates are exclusive of airfare.
Vail Resorts will take reservations for the Epic Summer trips through Sept. 6.
