Bubble Gum Alley in San Luis Obispo stretches 70 feet and has been said to be the landing spot for millions (yes millions!) of pieces of gum.
Many speculate about when this gum wall began.
Some say it started in the 1950s while others argue that it was a competition dating back to the 1970s between local high school and college students.

As for the Seattle Gum Wall, people started to stick their flavorful mouthfuls on outside the Market Theater in the early 1990s.
After a couple of failed attempts by workers to keep the wall clean, it was left untouched and became recognized as a tourist attraction.
Yes they’re both a bit disgusting.
But the enormity of an entire wall covered with colorful bubble gum from people across the world is pretty spectacular.
