The DeKalb County Sheriff's fugitive squad arrested a 36-year-old suspect Thursday in last fall's shooting of a deputy.

The deputy, Cpl. Gary Freeman, was trying to serve a warrant on Joshua Matthew Waller on Nov. 28 in the 1400 block of Keys Crossing Drive N.E., authorities say. Waller opened the front door and shot Freeman in the forearm, according to authorities.

Deputy Sonja McKinney returned fire, wounding Waller in the shoulder.

Waller was arrested, but was released Dec. 20 after posting $500,000 bond. Last month, a grand jury indicted him on four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of attempted murder of a witness, terroristic acts with intent to retaliate, possession of an illegal weapon and simple assault.

On Wednesday, the fugitive squad arrested Waller without incident. He's being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
