Explore a different kind of craft beverage scene on a weekend road trip.

Just over 4 hours from Atlanta is Cabarrus County, North Carolina. The place known for motorsports also has a whiskey distillery housed in a former prison. There’s also Greenville County, South Carolina’s winery overlooking the skyline. Finally, Nashville, Tennessee is home to a brewery with live music.

Here are three craft beverage spots to check out on a weekend trip. Each has a taste for you no matter the drink you’re craving.

Southern Grace Distilleries

Southern Grace Distilleries is in Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina. It offers small-batch whiskey and bourbon. It was once a prison, so as you taste Conviction or Sun Dog varieties, you can take the Convicted Spirits Tour at Whiskey Prison. Explore the supernatural at the 90-year-old grounds guided by paranormal investigators.

City Scape Winery

City Scape Winery is just over 2 hours from Atlanta in Pelzer, South Carolina. It’s family- and pet-friendly and also welcomes picnics. Owned by the youngest winery owners in the southeast, this spot offers tastings every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. You can also learn to make your own wine, which gives you 30 bottles to take home.

Tennessee Brew Works

Tennessee Brew Works is nearly 4 hours away from Atlanta in Nashville, Tennesee. The Brewery aims to “create high-quality craft beer that pays homage to the land, traditions and culture of Tennessee.” Explore that through beers such as the State Park Blonde Ale, Southern Wit and Hippies and Cowboys IPA.
