IMPORTANT UPDATE : The above map is actually an older version (circa Feb. 12) of the City of Austin's planning doc! Crazy, right? It has changed considerably since the locopants version above and the version that was originally posted further down in this post is actually the current version. That could still change, so check out this page if you want to get the latest Affected Area Map and Street Closure Documents.

Some terrifying things, like the aliens in Area 51, and the ending to "The Blair Witch Project" are best left on the down-low, and so it seems to be with this year's graphic of Austin street closures taking place during South by Southwest 2016.

We're definitely expecting epic traffic snarls during President Barack Obama's keynote and fundraiser in Austin on Friday, but the map above, which if stared at for too long may induce madness, reveals that we'll have plenty more transportation problems in Austin that aren't directly POTUS-related.

Thanks to Ilene Haddad, who brought the map to our attention on Facebook. It's making the rounds now, but isn't it a little strange that this map, available as a PDF on the city's website, isn't front and center and the City of Austin website? That seems to be one way to get people to work from home on Friday.

Update: here's an easier-to-follow map from Downtown Austin AllianceUPDATE: The map is from City of Austin, actually.
