Austin-based e-learning company Schoox Inc. said Wednesday that it has acquired Learn.net, an Atlanta-based company that designs and develops service training and communication technologies.
Schoox is an online academy where “self-learners” can teach, learn and certify their knowledge. Schoox serves more than 1 million users in more than 110 countries all over the world. Clients include companies like Subway, Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Kia Motors.
Financial terms of the deal were not released
The acquisition, subject to final shareholder approval, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016, Schoox said. The deal will give Schoox access to Learn.net’s customer base and allow help upgrade to Schoox’s Collaborative Content Management System, Schoox executives said.
“The Schoox platform is extremely user-friendly, flexible and offers functionalities beyond what we currently offer our customers,” Kenneth Leddick, Learn.net’s CEO, said in a written statement.
A new users joins Schoox every minute, said Kristi Turner, senior vice president of marketing, and the acquisition will lead to even more growth.
“Schoox is growing by leaps and bounds,” she said.
Learn.net will continue to be based in Atlanta, and the acquisition will not directly lead to an opening of new jobs in Austin, Turner said. However, she said the company expects to continue to grow and create more jobs Texas.
Turner said the move from Learn.net to CCMS will result in additional revenue for Schoox.
“Together, we will serve the largest franchise organization and the largest retailer in the world, along with numerous small to medium businesses across retail, restaurant, manufacturing and logistics industries,” said Lefteris Ntouanoglou, Schoox CEO in a press release.
