In case you missed it, Atlanta United announced the signing of Josef Martinez as its third Designated Player on Thursday.
Here is a look at each's team's top three scorers last season .
Lastly, here is a list compiled by the league of all of the Designated Players, so that you can get a better sense of the competition and compare and contrast what Atlanta United has to those teams. This list can change up to March 1.
POR - Sebastian Blanco, Diego Valeri, Liam Ridgewell: Valeri had 14 goals and seven assists. Ridgewell played almost 2,000 minutes as a defender.
ATL - Josef Martinez, Miguel Almiron, Hector Villalba
LA - Jelle Van Damme, Giovani dos Santos, Romain Alessandrini: Dos Santos had 14 goals and 12 assists. Van Damme and Alessandrini are newly minted DPs. Van Damme played more than 2,400 minutes in defense last season.
FCD - Cristian Colman, Mauro Diaz, Carlos Gruezo: Diaz had five goals and 13 assists last season. Guezo played more than 2,200 minutes in the midfield.
HOU - Erick Torres, Mauro Manotas, Alberth Elis: Manotas had six goals and one assist in 22 appearances.
RSL - Albert Rusnak, Yura Movsisyan, Joao Plata: Plata had nine goals and 12 assists last seaosn. Movsisyan had nine goals and three assists last season.
SKC - Gerso Fernandes, Roger Espinoza, Graham Zusi. Espinoza had one goal and five assists last season. Zusi had two goals and four assists.
CLB - Jonathan Mensah, Federico Higuain
CHI - Nemanja Nikolic, David Accam
COL - Gashi, Tim Howard
MTL - Ignacio Piatti
NE - Kei Kamara, Xavier Kouassi
NYCFC - Andrea Pirlo, David Villa
NYRB - Sacha Kljestan, Gonzalo Veron, Damari Omer: Kljestan had six goals and 20 assists. Veron had three goals.
ORL - Kaka, Carlos Rivas, Bryan Rochez: Kaka had nine goals and 10 assists, Rivas had three goals and four assists.
PHI - Alejandro Bedoya, Maurice Edu
SJ - Simon Dawkins
SEA - Clint Dempsey, Nico Lodeiro: Dempsey had eight goals in 17 games, while Lodeiro was arguably the best player in the final 13 games with four goals and eight assists.
TOR - Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, Sebastian Giovinco: Altidore and Giovinco combined for 27 goals and 20 assists. Bradley had one goal and five assists in a midfield role that’s not suited for stats.
VAN - Matias Laba
