Hawks center Al Horford will have surgery to repair a torn right pectoral muscle Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the season, including the playoffs, according to team sources.
The surgery will be performed in Atlanta.
Horford was injured Thursday in the first overtime of a victory over the Cavaliers. An MRI exam the following day revealed a complete tear, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Horford suffered a tear of the left pectoral muscle two seasons ago and missed most of the regular season. He returned for the playoffs.
According to the sources, Horford will not return if the Hawks make the playoffs and even if they advance past the first round.
