Atlanta's Billy Andrade, a former PGA Tour player who is now an on-course reporter for the Golf Channel, offered his three thoughts on Sunday's final round of the Masters:
ON BUBBA WATSON
We've been wondering for years: When is a younger American going to come out of the pack? The young American players want to win so badly that they get in their own way. It was great to see Bubba pull it off. The way he played, the way he handled himself down the stretch, all the players that were there to give him a hug is a testament to his popularity. It's a very popular win not just for golf and the PGA Tour, but also for the Bulldog Nation.
ON LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN
Louis Oosthuizen didn’t lose it. Sometimes you win tournaments and sometimes you lose them. He was a class act. He hits one of the greatest shots in Masters history [on No. 2]. It was unbelievable. The way he hung in there once he got the lead ... he didn’t give it away. Bubba won it.
ON THE 2012 MASTERS
This is the greatest golf tournament in the world. From every detail, the Masters is the best. Every year you say, can it get any better? And it gets better and it gets better. The quality of pay gets higher with so many story lines, so many guys with chances, so much drama. It’s the best golf tournament in the world and it’s great to see another Watson win.
