ATHENS -- Georgia basketball recruiting is on a roll as the Bulldogs locked up their third bluechip prospect in a week on Monday. And this time it’s a top 100 high school player

Silas Demary Jr., a 6-foot-5, 180-pound point guard out of Lincolnton, N.C., committed to Georgia coach Mike White on Monday. The Bulldogs announced Demary’s signing later in the afternoon.

A Southern Cal commitment since October, Demary announced a change of plans on April 15. He chose the Bulldogs over Tennessee, N.C. State and Alabama, among others.

Demary becomes the fifth addition to Georgia’s class of 2023 and third high school player. He joins fall-period high school signees Mari Jordan and Dylan James -- both ranked as Top 100 players -- and follows the signings of transfers RJ Melendez from Illinois and Jalen DeLoach of VCU. The Bulldogs can sign three more players before next fall. All five players are Top 100 recruits.

Demary is a consensus 4-star prospect who carries a No. 58 national player ranking from 247Sports.com, 59th by Rivals.com and 41st by On3.com. He averaged 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game as a senior at the Combine Academy last season, leading his team to a 35-5 record and No. 25 finish in the ESPN high school national rankings.

Demary also played for Liberty Heights Athletic Institute during the 2021-22 season and at Millbrook High School from 2018-21. In 2021, Demary helped Millbrook capture the North Carolina Class 4A state championship in dramatic fashion. His free throw with 10 seconds left in overtime tied the game with Ardrey Kell High. Demary then stole an inbounds pass and converted a layup to secure a 67-65 victory. He averaged 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game that season for the Wildcats.
