Two-minute drill

Subject: Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton

Topic: Effectiveness of the Falcons' run defense

Background: A three-year veteran, Lofton is called "The Police" by Falcons radio announcers Wes Durham and David Archer because as in real life, "you can't run from the police." He has amassed more than 400 tackles in his short, but productive career. He was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft out of Oklahoma and started as a rookie. Initially, Lofton left the field in passing situations. Now he plays on all downs and rarely leaves the field. He's from Kingfisher, Okla.

Q: What will be the key to stopping the run against Green Bay?

A: We have to play discipline football and stay in our gaps and tackle. From just watching the playoff games, tackling has been a real big issue. We really have been putting a lot of focus into it this week. That's what you have to do.

Q: What do you all think of Green Bay's running back James Starks?

A: He's come out of nowhere really. He's playing really good. He's 6-2, 218. He's a big running back, and he's trouble when he gets going north to south. We have to put our pads on him.

Q: What problems do they present when they come out in their inverted wishbone?

A: Nothing really. We've seen it a couple of times already this season. Our coaches have a good scheme for it. So, we'll be ready for it.
