Jimmy Lallathin, who saw Kennesaw State’s basketball program through a rough 10-22 season, was fired Monday afternoon, the school announced.

Associate Head Coach David Rivers was named interim head coach until the position can be filled.

Lallathin took over the job on an interim basis last season after Lewis Preston took a leave of absense with 16 games remaining in the 2013-14 schedule. He was upgraded to head coach after the season.

But the Owls lost their first four games of the season, wound up 4-10 in the Atlantic Sun Conference and finished with a 36-point loss to South Carolina-Upstate in the league tournament.

“I want to personally thank Jimmy Lallathin for his hard work as head coach,” KSU athletic director Vaughn Williams said in a statement released by the school. “Jimmy took over the program in mid-season and guided it through a difficult period of transition.”
