Georgia Tech defensive end Rod Rook-Chungong is among multiple Yellow Jackets players injured in the past two games who appear on track to play in Saturday’s game against North Carolina.
Rook-Chungong, a starter, suffered a shoulder injury against Notre Dame and sat out the loss to Duke, but has returned to practice.
“I’m way, way, way better,” he said Tuesday after practice. “I’m ready to play.”
B-back Marcus Allen, who suffered an undisclosed injury against Duke and didn’t return, practiced Monday and Tuesday. Left guard Trey Braun, who was injured last Saturday but returned, did not practice Tuesday. He “will be alright,” coach Paul Johnson said. A-back TaQuon Marshall, who also left the Duke game with an undisclosed injury, practiced Tuesday.
The status for defensive tackle Patrick Gamble, who didn’t play against Duke due to a head injury, will be released with Thursday’s injury report. He was not on the depth chart released Tuesday. Francis Kallon is the backup at both tackle positions. Defensive line coach Mike Pelton said Tuesday that he anticipated playing Kallon more against the Blue Devils but didn’t want to break up the flow of the line once the Jackets defense began to control play.
