Hutchinson, Kansas – Georgia State junior Davin White moved into a tie for third after the second round at the NCAA golf championship with a 3-under par 67 Sunday at Prairie Dunes Country Club. White backed up his first-round 69 to move to 4-under after two rounds, two shots behind leader Cameron Wilson of Stanford.

White’s 67 was the low round of the 78 rounds started Sunday morning, when half of the field completed the second round. The round was played in the heaviest winds of the tournament. Saturday, when half the field played their first and second rounds, 15 players shot below par in the second round. Sunday, there were only eight such scores.

“I’m pretty good in the wind,” said White, from Griffin. “I hit the ball kind of low, which helps, but everybody struggles in the wind. It’s just unpredictable.”

White and the Panthers teed off for their third round Saturday afternoon, as rain delays have required teams to try to complete two rounds in one day.

It was a considerable round for White, ranked 153rd in the country. Prior to the NCAA tournament, he had shot four rounds under 70 in 35 rounds this season before doing it twice in the first two rounds at Prairie Dunes.
