Georgia fans’ anticipation of a big season and desire to travel to Nashville have given a surprising distinction to Saturday night’s game at Vanderbilt: It’s the most expensive game of college football’s Week One on the secondary ticket sales market, according to TicketIQ founder Jesse Lawrence.

As of Tuesday, the “get-in” (lowest available) price on the resale marketplace for Georgia-Vandy was $145, considerably higher than any other game in the country this week, Lawrence said in an email.

This week’s next most expensive game, based on secondary market get-in price, is Houston at Oklahoma on Sunday ($82), according to TicketIQ’s figures.

Among the factors driving Georgia fans’ demand for tickets in 40,500-seat Vanderbilt Stadium: The Bulldogs are opening the season on the road against an SEC opponent for the first time in 25 years, are ranked No. 3 in the nation in preseason polls and have high hopes for the program’s first national championship since 1980.

TicketIQ also reports that the average secondary market list price for Georgia home games throughout the 2019 season is the highest of any college football team. That average is boosted by sky-high prices for the Bulldogs' Sept. 21 game in Athens against Notre Dame.
