More than one-fourth of the households in the Atlanta television market watched Georgia's victory over Notre Dame. And across the nation, it was the most watched college football game so far this season.

CBS Sports’ telecast of Saturday night’s game generated a 25.9 rating in Atlanta, meaning 25.9% of the market’s TV homes were tuned in on average. That equals an audience of more than 600,000 local homes.

Nationally, the game averaged a 6.2 rating across the 56 metered markets, making it the highest-rated college football game on any network in this young season. It also was the highest-rated college game on CBS in the month of September since the 2013 Alabama-Texas A&M game.

Georgia-Notre Dame drew a higher rating in one other market than in Atlanta: Birmingham, Ala., which posted a 26.8 rating for the game.
