Will University of Miami quarterback Stephen Morris play against Florida State on Saturday night or won’t he?
That’s a question that UM coach Al Golden said might not be answered until just before game time.
Golden said Morris, who sprained his left ankle Saturday against North Carolina, didn’t practice Tuesday and will remain sidelined for Wednesday’s practice but could possibly work out with the team Thursday, doing 7-on-7 drills and non-contact work.
Morris was seen at UM’s practice facility Tuesday walking without a protective boot or noticeable limp.
“We have a long way to go,” Golden said. “I’d have to classify him as (a game-time decision) right now.”
Golden said he was unsure what designation he would give Morris on the team’s injury report to be released Thursday.
“Doubtful, probable, one of those,” Golden said.
• UM baseball coach Jim Morris said he accidentally received a text message from Golden at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. The text from Golden inquired about Morris’ health. Turns out Golden’s message was intended for Stephen Morris, not Jim Morris. The two men shared a laugh about the mix-up at Tuesday’s news conference.
• Golden said freshman quarterback Preston Dewey has been taking snaps with the second-team offense while Ryan Williams has worked with the starters. Dewey has yet to play this season.
