No. 4 Florida remains unsure of linebacker Jelani Jenkins’ availability for this week’s game.

The Gators (5-0, 4-0 in the SEC) play at Vanderbilt on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPNU), and would benefit from Jenkins’ veteran presence is he is healthy enough to play. The Commodores (2-3, 1-2) put up 377 yards of total offense in last year’s 26-21 loss to Florida.

Jenkins broke a bone in his thumb during the Gators’ second game of the season, then injured his hamstring when he returned last week to play against LSU. Florida has not determined whether he can play this week.

“We’re pushing Jelani as hard as we can to get him ready,” defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said. “We certainly need him to.”

Jenkins, a red-shirt junior, is a three-year starter. He played with a large cast on his right hand last week and did not record a tackle before leaving with the hamstring injury.
