The Hawks signed veteran forward Jeremy Evans to a 10-day contract on Sunday prior to their game against the Magic.

Evans, 30, was with the Hawks during the preseason. He’s played 39 games this season for the Hawks’ G-League affiliate in Erie, Pa.

Evans has played in 249 games over six NBA seasons, most recently with the Mavericks in 2015-16. He’s posted career averages of 10.5 minutes, 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

With the addition of Evans, the Hawks now have 16 players under contract, one more than the normal maximum (not including players on “two-way” contracts). The NBA granted the Hawks an injury hardship exception to sign Evans.

Five Hawks players are out with long-term injuries: Kent Bazemore, Antonius Cleveland, Malcolm Delaney, Jaylen Morris and Dennis Schroder.
