NEXT: VS SAN DIEGO
Monday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (5-2, 1.89 ERA) vs. RH Ian Kennedy (3-5, 6.60)
Comment: Miller is eager to get back on the mound after his first rough start as a Brave. He snapped his streak of 10 starts allowing two or fewer earned runs by giving up four runs in 4 1/3 innings of a 7-6 loss at Arizona. Most eye-popping were his Miller's walks, after walking six combined in his previous five starts. Kennedy snapped a four-game losing streak his last time out, holding the Mets to two runs in six innings of a 7-2 win.
Tuesday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 4.29) vs. RH James Shields (7-0, 3.58)
Comment: Foltynewicz got two Freddie Freeman homers of support but couldn't make it hold up in an eventual 9-8 loss in Arizona, allowing five runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings. Folty has allowed home runs in five of his past six starts. He's facing an undefeated Shields, who is tied with Madison Bumgarner for second in the National League in wins. Shields is 3-0 with a 2.73 ERA in his past three starts after skating by in each of his previous two starts despite allowing five runs.
Wednesday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Williams Perez (1-0, 3.55) vs. RH Tyson Ross (3-5, 3.75)
Comment: Perez had his first rocky outing in four since joining the Braves' rotation. He gave up four runs and walked five in five innings of a 10-8 loss to the Pirates. Perez will face a steady hand in Ross, who has allowed only two earned runs in six of his past seven starts, and three in the other one. He's not gotten the run support he's probably due, right on through last season when Ross went 13-14 despite a 2.81 ERA in 31 starts.
Thursday
Time: 12:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Julio Teheran (4-2, 4.87) vs. RH Andrew Cashner (2-8, 4.05)
Comment: Teheran thinks he might have found something his last time out, being more aggressive with his four-seam fastball and cutting back on two-seamers and seeing his velocity return to the 91-94 mph range. He gave up a two-run homer to Andrew McCutchen but retired the next 12 batters he faced on his way to a season-high 7 1/3 innings. Cashner is relieved not to be at Great American Ballpark anymore where he gave up seven runs and walked five in 5 2/3 innings against the Reds his last time out.
