How the winning run scored: Curtis Granderson, on an injury rehab assignment for the New York Yankees, hit a two-run homer off Andrew Russell (2-4) with one out in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie.

At the plate: The first three Gwinnett batters scored. Tyler Pastornicky led off the first with a single and stole second. Alden Carrithers tried to bunt him over and ended up reaching base himself on a bunt single. Joey Terdoslavich (2-for-3, three RBIs) followed with a homer to right. Ernesto Mejia was 2-for-3 with a double for the G-Braves. Zoilo Almonte and Melky Mesa each had three hits for the RailRiders.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Michael Lee gave up 10 hits and three runs in five innings. He also walked three.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (12-24) and the RailRiders (19-14) continue their series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Moosic, Pa. Gwinnett right-hander Omar Poveda (2-2, 2.33 ERA) and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre righty Chien-Ming Wang (2-2, 2.63) are scheduled to start.
