How the winning run scored: In the season finale for both teams, the Knights' Marcus Semien scored on a ground out by Blake Tekotte to give Charlotte (65-78) a 1-0 lead over Gwinnett (60-84) in the bottom of the first inning Monday afternoon. On the first pitch of the inning, Semien was hit by G-Braves starter David Hale. While facing the next batter, Tekotte, Hale threw wildly on a pickoff attempt, and Semien moved to third.

At the plate: Gwinnett's Evan Gattis was 2-for-4, after a 2-for-5 game Sunday that included a home run. Tyler Greene was 2-for-3 for the G-Braves, who had 11 hits.

On the mound: Hale (6-9) gave up four runs in six innings. He allowed eight hits and struck out five.

Late Sunday: Trailing 7-1 through six innings, the G-Braves scored 11 runs over the final three innings to defeat Charlotte 12-7. The G-Braves scored one in the seventh, four in the eighth and six in the ninth. The G-Braves tied the score in the ninth when Joe Leonard's one-out, bases-loaded single drove home Phil Gosselin. The next batter, Sean Kazmar, singled and drove home Brandon Boggs for an 8-7 lead.
