Double-A catching prospect Chris O’Dowd was suspended without pay for 80 games Wednesday after testing positive for testosterone.

O’Dowd was putting up career numbers with the Double-A Mississippi Braves this season, batting .304 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 26 games. He hit .375 with three runs scored and two RBIs in his last five games.

O’Dowd is the son of Dan O’Dowd, former Colorado Rockies general manager and current studio analyst for MLB Network.

The suspension is effective immediately.
