There was a time when Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez might have been concerned about Julio Teheran coming back strong after a poor start.

That’s not how he feels now about Teheran, who is scheduled to start against the Phillies on Monday after he gave up a career-high seven runs in 6 1/3 innings at Colorado on Wednesday.

“I don’t even worry about Julio anymore,” Gonzalez said Sunday. “I just run him out there every fifth day and he’s going to give us a chance to win.”

Teheran’s four-start winning streak ended with Atlanta’s 8-2 loss to the Rockies. The 10 hits allowed tied his career high and Teheran’s 1.89 ERA, tops among starters at the time, increased to 2.41.

Teheran said he didn’t watch the video of the start because, in an effort to move on, he avoids doing so when he has poor outings. He said he especially didn’t need to watch that game again because the Rockies got a couple bloop hits and also got hits on what he considered good pitches.

“Just forget about that and concentrate on the next (start),” he said. “I’m excited. I am ready to go out there (again).”

Teheran said he asked Gonzalez to leave him in for the seventh inning with the Rockies leading 6-0. He said he wanted to keep competing and try to save the bullpen from some wear.

“Sometimes I can’t go deep and they (relief pitches) understand,” Teheran said. “That’s part of the team. Sometimes I have to do things to help them and sometimes they do stuff for me.”
