Braves right-hander Shae Simmons on Tuesday threw his first bullpen session since being placed on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Simmons threw 20 pitches, mostly fastballs, and said he could have another bullpen session as soon as Wednesday. Simmons was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 29, retroactive to July 27.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez hopes to use Simmons out of the bullpen before the team leaves on a road trip on Monday. If all goes as planned Simmons then would be sent on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.
