The Braves recalled right-hander Juan Jaime from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday after placing catcher Evan Gattis (back) on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Sunday.

But after the 5-4 victory over the Mets Tuesday night, the Braves sent Jaime back to Gwinnett in anticipation of activating reliever David Carpenter (biceps) from the disabled list. Jaime did not pitch in the game.

Jaime, 26, made his major-league debut with the Braves on June 20 and had three other appearances before being sent back to Gwinnett on Saturday when catcher Christian Bethancourt was recalled to the Braves. Jaime has allowed one run in four innings (2.25 ERA) with seven strikeouts and a walk.

“For me, there wasn’t even anybody else in my mind when we had an opportunity to bring somebody back,” Gonzalez said. “Bring Jaime back because he’s done well enough that you feel comfortable with him.”
