Braves manager Brian Snitker said catcher Tyler Flowers was available to pinch hit Tuesday against the Nationals, the latest indication that Flowers should avoid a stint on the disabled list for his right hamstring injury.

Flowers left Sunday’s game because of the injury. He caught a bullpen session Tuesday.

“Give him maybe a day or two more,” Snitker said Tuesday. “I think maybe if you had to put him back there tonight, you could. But we will make sure. Coming off the field (Sunday) it tested good, yesterday it tested good and he feels even better today.”

Flowers has started seven games and hit .407 (11-for-27) with two walks and a double. Catcher Kurt Suzuki has started the past two games with Anthony Recker in reserve.
